You are trying to trigger the right direction response.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-rule-accent\">Ask by category when you do not know the exact name<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A common beginner mistake is asking for an NPC by a name you only half remember. If you are unsure, zoom out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Need to sell meat? Ask for <code>meat<\/code>, <code>food<\/code>, <code>cook<\/code>, or <code>butcher<\/code>.<br>Need to sell animal parts? Try <code>pelts<\/code> or <code>leather<\/code>.<br>Need class help? Ask for your class, like <code>fighter<\/code>, <code>druid<\/code>, or <code>rogue<\/code>.<br>Need a place? Ask for the district, gate, or landmark first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The official guide specifically points players toward categories like cardinal directions, districts, notable locations, points of interest, classes, class trainers, merchants, and buyers. That is the shape of the system. Guards are not search engines, but they do understand the world in useful chunks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-rule-accent\">Use directions in layers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Do not expect every answer to solve the whole trip. A guard may get you to a district, then another question gets you to the exact vendor or trainer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, in Night Harbor:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ask <code>\/say Necropolis<\/code> to get to the district.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once there, ask another guard or local NPC about your class.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you are selling, ask for the item type, not just \u201cmerchant.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>In Faelindral:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ask <code>\/say Ranger's Rest<\/code> or <code>\/say Sentinel's Gaze<\/code>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once you are near the right landmark, ask for <code>fletching<\/code>, <code>archery<\/code>, or your class.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you need to leave the city, ask about <code>Evershade<\/code> or another nearby region.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>That layered approach keeps the world intact. You still explore, but you are not wandering helplessly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-rule-accent\">Read the answer like a traveler, not a GPS<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Guard directions often work best when you combine them with landmarks. Watch for words like north, south, east, west, gate, road, district, ward, market, tower, docks, or lift. Then look around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The sun and moons can help with cardinal directions outdoors, since they rise in the east and set in the west. Inside a city, major buildings, gates, bridges, lifts, and roads become your real compass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A useful habit: after you find a place, turn around and look back. What does the route look like from the other direction? Many players learn the trip to a trainer, then get lost leaving because they never studied the return path.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why the guard did not answer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If a guard ignores you, check these things before blaming the game:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Is the guard targeted?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Did you type in <code>\/say<\/code>, not group or tell chat?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Did you use a short keyword?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Did you spell the landmark close enough?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Are you asking for a thing that guard system likely tracks?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Did you accidentally target another NPC or player?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, be careful when talking to NPCs. The default combat key can get you into trouble if you are mashing keys near something targetable. Nobody wants their first city lesson to be \u201cI attacked the wrong thing while asking for the bank.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When to ask players<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Using guards is not a replacement for the community. It is a way to ask better questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead of saying, \u201cI am lost,\u201d try:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI asked a guard for West Gate and got turned around near the market. Which landmark should I look for?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That tells other players you are trying. It also makes it much easier for them to help without dropping a full spoiler route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The guard system is not just a navigation tool.
